Insert Configuration Table with Inserted Configured Part

Main Question

Is it possible to change the configuration of an inserted design?  I don't mean switching configurations; I mean being able to change the specific things from the inserted part's configuration table while being in the main design.

In other words, is it possible to insert a part's configuration table with the part itself, for maximum configurability?

An example usage I'm going for is if I make a box with configurable dimensions, I'd like to be able to insert the box into Design A, and configure the box (using its own configuration table while still being in Design A) to be 2 in x 3 in.  If I then insert the box into Design B (or even if I insert a 2nd copy of said box into Design A), I'd like to be able to configure this other box to be 4 in x 5 in (also using its own configuration table while within Design B).

Usage Context

For context, I'm hoping to be able to use Fusion configurations to be able to quickly prototype and design a robot with a high school robotics team.  Ideally, I'd want my students to be able to insert configurable parts (such as example chassis, arms, rollers, etc.), and be able to configure them with different dimensions within their initial CAD designs.  This will allow the team to quickly prototype different ideas and robot dimensions before committing

We're currently using OnShape to do this (see images below), but I would really like to mimic this behavior in Fusion so that the team can stick to using a single CAD software for its design needs, as well as take advantage of Autodesk Synthesis and simulate their robot designs after they create them.

Is there a way to achieve this (or similar) behavior in Fusion?

Figure 2 - Two different versions of the same inserted part (a total of two copies of the inserted part exist).  Using the configuration table of the second inserted part allows us to change its various parameters at will.

Hi @ktvu_whs

Any change to the table has to happen in the Configured Design.  An inserted configuration is an external part in the design where it is inserted.  We do not at this time allow the table to be accessed in the context of the inserted configuration.  It is on our roadmap in the future.  We can switch inserted configurations to some other configuration from the same Configured Design.

Gautham
