Importing SVG causes errors?

Hi Everyone,

I'm trying to use F360 to 3d print a 2d typography drawing into a 3d, but when I import the SVG, it seems that while all the lines are there, F360 doesn't create a plane for all enclosed drawings. See image attached. See how the coffee cup and the letters "G" and "O" are messed up.Is there a way to correct this?

(I'm attaching the original SVG in here too in case you guys would want to test it out on your machines.

Looking forward to your responses šŸ™‚

Hi @heyarn,

It looks like you just attached the screenshot file - I don't see an svg file attached (you may have to put it in a zip file to get the forum to recognize it as OK).

The big problem with SVG is that it is usually used for less-demanding applications such as 2D printing.  So, many tools that create SVG don't have very tight tolerances with geometry.  So, when you import them, Fusion sees a gap in the geometry.  These can usually be fixed by editing the sketch.

The definitive technique for finding these gaps, by @HughesTooling can be found here:  find-leak-in-sketch-geometry.  Then, you can often patch the holes by creating coincident constraints, adding a short line or arc, etc.  Note that SVG comes in by default as "fixed", so you will have to select any curves you want to edit and "unfix" them first.

It looks like you should be able to get this to work relatively easily.

I'm pretty sure someone posted a screen shot from illustrator that showed on option to increase the tolerance of an export. There was an option to increase how many decimal places where in the file.

Hi heyarn,

Thanks for reporting the SVG profile build issue. Yes we have found several issues about svg profile building. Now internally we have fixed most of them. Hopefully you will see the fix for future Fusion update.

Thanks,

Frank
