Importing IGES files for beginners

Hi there,

I'm new to the 3D community and I'm currently  reviewing the video lessons on fusion 360. I'm following videos step by step and in lesson 3 for absolute beginners and the video shows 3 files downloaded to the hard drive. The narrator tells you how to find the close/open/save and handle files under workshop and events and instructs to save them to the hard drive but fails to say where to find the import IGES file. Then in lesson 7 he refers to lesson 3 instructions on how to import the IGES file. Forgave me but I am a complete novice and trying to follow the instructions but there seems to be gaps or is it that I am missing something. I would like some help finding this IGES file so I can go on to lesson 8.

Thanks

In Windows 10, downloaded files will usually end up in the Download folder.  I don't know where the default download folder is on a mac (or even if they're called folders Smiley Happy ).   If you know the name of the downloaded file, do a search for it.  If you don't know the name, search on the suffix: iges.

Thanks but I think you misunderstood my question.  Like I said , I am a complete newbie at this so I will try to be clear. I downloaded fusion 360 two days ago and I am now for the first time viewing the instructional videos for beginners.  In the video lesson 3 of the Fusion Mastery Course the author {Matt Perez) shows how to navigate to workshop and events in the data panel. He then clicks on lesson 3-02 and chooses the file "open/close/save" and then shows how to upload and save that file to the cloud/ hard drive.  At (2:16) of the video, it shows 3 files that Matt saved to his hard drive ("handle", "import.iges" and "open/close/save" ). He explained and I understand how he got the "open/close/save" and "handle" files but he does not explain where the 3rd file "import.iges" file came from. Then in video lesson 7 (import/export) Matt is showing how to work with the IGES file. At (0:55) he says to upload the import.IGES file from the fusion mastery data set lesson 3 but he never shows where the iges file came from in the first place. I'm trying to follow along but he lost me there.  So my question is...where do I find this "import.iges" file so I can save it to my hard drive??

I know my attempt to clarify my question was a bit lengthy but I hope you understand my question now.

Thanks

OK...sorry about that folks. I just found the file under lesson 7 data set. In the video Matt says to get the file from fusion mastery lesson 3 data set.

Under the about the author section to the right hand side of the screen there is a lesson files folder. You can download that import file there. A lot of times at the very beginning of these course there will be a course documents folders that you can download or you can download them with each individual lesson. Each file that is used in the lessons will be found in the lessons datasets.

It may have been located in the lesson 3 dataset as well. A lot of times the files used in later lessons will all be in one of the earlier datasets in order to have all the files at once.
