Importing DXF and Line Profiles

I am trying to get the loft feature to work with a drawing from an imported DXF file, but F360 creates multiple line profiles from the curves. This has a direct impact on the Loft and Extrude commands, issue is fixed when I try to re-draw the curves native to F360 but I cannot get it to be a perfect 1:1 copy of the original.

 

Is there any way to;

1. Join the line profiles or

2. Any plugins or any other applications that has the feature

3. Perfectly redraw or trace from the original (I tried constraints but still not the same)

 

Any feedback will be appreciated

1.  When selecting the outline with double left click, Fusion will show you the connected chain.

2.  Not that I am aware of.  The file is so bad probably would not work for this one anyway.

3.  Preferred.

There is no canvass, if you are drawing a new sketch, project the end points of the internal straight lines, connect the spline to it and adjust the tangent handles.  With some practice, you can get exact .

 

This DXF or what's left of it is another example of why imports are only sort of compatible with Fusion.  I reviewed the broken outline and found the outline is not connected to the internal setting out.  You may have deleted the second line but you left the end points for it there, I found 4 end points, a line and 2 splines at one intersection.

Quicker to start over, in Fusion.

When dxf import looks like this you may save some time.

Your sketch will work better with one spline,

Loft needs more than one Profile.

Thank you for the reply, my main issue is with the curves though. I just don't understand why it would break up when you import even as SVG, from what I've seen so far it is one of the biggest issues with F360.

Hi,

unfortunately, splines are (currently?) converted during SVG import to Fusion and can no longer be edited as splines.

I also think that this should no longer be the case in the future.

Fusion does not "break up" any geometry in an SVG.  What you are seeing is just a representation of the geometry in the SVG.  Usually, that "breaking up" occurs in either the authoring system or in the export to SVG from that system.

 

In the screencast below, I show one tool for fitting a spline curve - using "fit curves to mesh section".  This requires converting to a mesh first.  Also, given that it looks like the intention is for a symmetric body, I only did half of it, but you could extend this technique to the whole body (though I notice you have a gap in the profile on one side, which would have to be fixed first).
