Imported DXF sketch has lines on different planes.

It is faster for me to redraw these but I was specifically asked to see if there is a faster way to connect the lines arcs and radii.

 

looking at the sketch from the top (on a different plane view,) it looks that some of the lines are different planes.  (the files is only one sketch)

 

is there a way to "flatten" the sketch other than projecting onto another sketch than having to remove the projection constraints? 

 

 

Any advise would be appreciated.

Yes there is a way to flatten a sketch like that, I presume you found it.

in case not, here is a screencast.  Also showing how to repair the outer profile so that is is recognizable as a closed area
