Imported curves from DELFTship

I have imported curves for a hull from DELFTship - i only need the hull, the rest i want to design from scratch.

The import from DELFTship comes in 4 sketches, Stations, Buttocks, Waterlines and Edges, a lot of them comes open lines, so i have tried to combine all 4 sketches into one big sketch. That's did also work, sort of...There is a lot of open curves so i have tried to close them all into fully constraint's (I'm not sure about the term), that works on some of the curves, but there is a LOT of cross-points where there is no connection, which make it impossible to build it up of surfaces.
And I have absolute no clue, at all, what to do now! So if there is somebody who can help me to come further in the progress, I would really appreciate it!

I have attached a Fusion 360 file you can import if that's needed

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for supplying your f3d file!

What I would suggest is as follows:

  1. Create 4 different components, each for the four sketches you imported.
  2. In each of these components create a plane for each section/slice of the sketch and then project the imported sketch section/slice onto that plane. This will make it easier to correct the sketch if it is incomplete.
  3. By doing this for each section/slice of the sketch you will have a component with construction planes and sketches required to create the body.
  4. Continuing this process for all four imported sketches, you will be able to create the desired body.
  5. The easiest way to create the body might be by lofting between each of the sketch sections/slices.

I have started this process and completed the Stations and Buttocks sketches for you!

I hope this has pointed you in the correct direction, if you are happy with this solution, please accept it.

Kind regards,

Matt

ohh, that's a clever way to do it!

I have all my curves on the same sketch - where you have one on one sketch and a plane for each sketch.

I can see what you are tying to do accomplish with that approach!

And if you have intersection of two sketch that's a little of so it don't fit then you can edit the sketch so it will fit with the other sketch from another component.

Do i have understand it right?
