Imported Assembly is misalligned with Sketch

It is fine when the Component files is open but when it is imported to a larger assembly it is offset.  Any ideas?

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing this.

Could you may share more information with us what happen when you import the assembly.

  • Does this happen only to a particular assembly?
  • Is the sketch you are referring fully constraint?
  • Have you used the imported assembly as an Xref?
  • Are all components native Fusion 360 files?

It would be great if you could share a screencast and your file with us.

I would really like to reproduce what you are seeing.

I look forward hearing from you.

Thank you,

Thanks Mike,

The original sketch was made in AutoCAD Architecture 2014, and imported into Fusion 360 as a DXF. I haven't quite become used to some of the AutoCAD functions being different in Fusion.

I have not experimented with other designs yet, but I will do so today.

Fusion 360 will not allow me to export a Design with external reference yet, so I broke the link and exported it.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for sharing the pictures and your design.

I have exported and imported the design but it did not change its original position.

Could you may use the "Ground" command before you export it and see if this ends in the same result.

Have you perhaps tried to use a Joint origin and constrain it with a Rigid joint to the origin Coordinate System?

Please, keep me updated.

Thanks,

I figured it out.

In spite of being saved the change in position was not saved.
I initiated another command which required a confirmation of the change in position and then after I saved it, and imported it worked.

I think a good fix might be to force it to accept changes when the user saves it.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for the feedback.

That sounds great. I think that capture position is another trick to keep it where it belongs.

Thanks and have a great day

Thanks for taking the time to help with this.

What you are saying  is exactly to what I am referring.
I was able to save the design, and import it into another design, before I captured it.  It seems like that should be forced when you save the design.

Either way, in the future I will make sure I capture it before saving.
