I want to import a print/drawing of a boat and be able to work with it. I don't have access to a large format scanner that can do .stl or .obj. The local print shop like Office Depot and Staples can do picture format scanning like jpeg, tiff and even pdf. Can I use any of these formats? If not is there a online service I can send my print/drawing to to have it scanned in the correct format?

Hi Kevin,

You can import pictures of what you're working with using the attach canvas tool. The supported file types are (.png, .jpg, .jpeg, .tif).

As an example, I've laid out canvasses of a Ho 229, Then I can use these to sketch out and build the actual design.

Once you've added the canvases, you can scale them manually or use the calibrate tool to bring them to the right size.
