Import Drawings from OnShape

I have some drawings that were made in OnShape and I'm in the process of switching to Fusion 360. Does anyone know if there's a way to import drawings directly to the Fusion360 workspace?
OnShape will let you export drawings in these formats:

  • PDF
  • DWG
  • DXF
  • DWT

You can upload DWG. Use the data panel in Fusion, make sure you're in a project then click the cloud icon and select the files you want to upload.

Just to be sure - when you use the term "drawings" - are you referring to 2D rather than 3D models?

Hi Terry,

Reading that Help topic for drawing export leads me to believe you are looking to export the drawing (flat sheet with views/dimensions) then import it into Fusion.  This is not supported.  In Fusion we have a 2D drawing (f2d) associated with a design (f3d).  Or are you trying to open/import a saved design (3D Model) saved out as dwg?  That should work (as well as inserting 2D DXF geometry into a sketch in your design).

Thanks,
Chris

Okay, I was afraid it wasn't possible, and yes I wanted to take 2D drawing files as exported from another program and turn them into F360 drawings. We'll just have to manually recreate the drawings. I had tried importing every available file type to F360 and gotten the same result each time (lines on a plane in the 3D workspace).

Thanks for your help.

We have 40 years worth of 2d drawings, with no models. Is there no way to load these drawing into f360. I tried saving them as day files but did could not get text or dimensions to import. Also. I'm the Android companion app I could. Not view the drawings at all.
