Import 3d curves from step file

I have a step file containing only curves, importing with “new design from file” opens an empty file, no curves. Is this a limitation?

Hi @Claus_J,

For now Fusion wont support importing curve data from STEP or IGES.
Curve data is supported for DXF and DWG formats. Get your data into DXF or DWG formats and import in fusion.

@dsouzasujay , are there any plans to accommodate other interchange formats for 2d and 3d curves? Alias dropped support for DXF/DWG around 2016 and Maya has also lost support for it too (at least on the Mac side of things).

I have this weird workflow now that requires me to make curves in Alias, export as STEP. Import into Rhino, export as DXF and then import into Fusion. Seems pretty round-about and forces me to use non-Autodesk software. I would think your marketing department would at least raise an eyebrow to that...

I would not think so. The unusual workflow of a single user is unlikely to really make any difference to them 😉

Well, we can hope can’t we? Interoperability seems like it should be table-stakes - maybe I’m an idealist...
