If Screencast is dead then what is the alternative way to capture and record a Motion Study

Hi All,

I suppose the title says it all. Screencast was "retired" by Autodesk at the end of January this year.

I have just finished a model of a Steam Engine. It works great when I do a Motion Study or simply tell Fusion to drive joints and relationships.

I had a look at Animation but in order to do the same thing I would have to MANUALLY change EVERY part MULTIPLE times to get it to do the same thing. It is an enormous amount of work when all I want is to record the animation the software does automagically in the design section.

What is the alternative? How do I record my model doing what it is supposed to do?

I don't really care about rendering and such - it is the motion I want to show off.

Any ideas would be great.

Cheers

This doesn’t sound right.

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

Hi,

So this works when I select a Joint and do an "Animate Joint Relationships". It also works when I do a Motion Study. I tried to get it to do the same thing with Animate but according to the Documentation, Animate is not designed to do full animations like these. It will explode and change view ok and move individual parts, but the documents suggest that to get it to work fully animated I would have to do something like a Stop Motion film.

What I want is a 15 second clip of the fully automated model for my Portfolio. This is why I looked as Screencast as an alternative.

I actually managed to do this one entirely without help. I had great trouble with interference with the Cylinder and Piston. It is still not 100% but as close as I could get it. All the other interferences are just screws and bolts in holes that I could fix but are not critical.

Thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers

Attached is a little over 15 second animated GIF of your model in motion if it helps.

I have a copy of Techsmith Snagit.  Reason you are asking?

The op question asked about alternatives to screen cast.  I'm also interested in alternatives, so was curious to know what your using.

Snagit does a great job in creating screen captures, videos and an host of other things such as markups.   It is a great product, I have used it for years.

It will probably work for your application, but it wasn't recording the Fusion 360 dialog boxes for me.  I have a dual monitor system, so that could have affected it.
