I do not see constraints in any sketch

I am giveing Fusion 360 a try, but have already run into a problem viewing any constraint symbols.  This example illustrates my problem.  There are veritcle and horizontal constraints on the respective sides to this square.

Perhaps there is some setting that I have been unable to locate.

Welcome to the Fusion 360 Community and thank you for posting your question. I think I know what the issues is.

I suspect that you selected Finish Sketch and are no longer actively editing a sketch. You can get back to the sketch by right clicking on the sketch in the Timeline or the Browser and selecting Edit Sketch.

Check out the below screencast video for a better description.

Let me know if this helps or if you are still having trouble.

Thanks,

Thank you so much for your speedy response.

Unfortunately, I am still experiencing this issue.  I am having a very hard time with any of the tutorials without being able to see these obviously.

Here are the steps that I am taking.

1) I firstly select "Create Sketch"

2) I then draw a rectangle.

3) This is what I am seeing after drawing that rectangle.  As you will note, there are no constraint icons.

4) If I try to add a vertical constraint, I get a notice that tells me that the constraint already exists.

The only thing I can think is that it's graphics related. If you go to the help menu and select Graphics Diagnostics:

graphics diagnostics.png

Try checking the "Limit all effect..." option to see if it has any impact on the behavoir.

If you have a sec, I'd like to take a look at your computer. I sent you a private message about doing a screen sharing session.

Thanks,

Just to keep anyone who comes across this informed, I have been told that there is a fix for this that is soon to be released.  From what I am told, the issue revolves around using a Mac with a case sensitve file system.  The Mac default is HFS+, which is case insenitive.

In the end, what I ended up doing was rebuilding my entire MacBook Pro.  Being that I need a case sensitive file system for other work I do in data architecture and general software development, I partitioned my SSD.  I created one main partition using the default Journaled file system and the other using the case sensitive, journaled file system.  This has solved all the issues that I was having with Fusion 360.  On top of that, I can now install and run the Adobe Creative Suite, as it requires a case insensitive file system to even begin the installation.

Hello,

I have the same problem not being able to see any constraints on my sketches, which makes any editing impossible. Has there been a fix for this since the last post?

I am running OS X on Imac.

Johan,

To my knowledge, there has been no update. As I posted, my solution was to
rebuild the entire machine using a case insensitive file system. What file
system is your mac installed on?

@Pildammarna I've sent you a direct e-mail with a script that may help to resolve the issue. Please let us know if it works or if you have ongoing issues.

Thanks,

Hello Nathan,

thanks for your replay. Before trying your script, I once again tried to adjust the Graphic diagnostics settings mentioned above, and now it seems to work fine.

But I have one question regarding circles. I do not see any visual cues on constraints when attaching e.g. a line to the center of a circle. Should the concentric constraint symbol not show?

Hi again,

realised it is the coincident symbol and not the concentric symbol that should show when attaching a line to the center of a circle.

But any constraints on the center of a circle is not visible for me. I can delete the constraints but I don't see it.

Would you mind posting a screenshot of what you're seeing?

Thanks,

Hi agian,

for example in the image below, should there not be a constraint symbol for the line connected to the center of the circle?

A constraint between the center point of a circle and end point of a line does not produce a constraint symbol for me, either. This seems to be normal operating behavior. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Thanks,

Hello,

I have the same problem not being able to see any constraints on my mac OS X.  I've tried to change the setting in graphics diaganostic as you mentioned, but it didn't work.  I don't want to convert the computer system to case sensitive.  Could you please let me know if there is another way that can fix the problem?  You mentioned there is a script that might be able to resolve this issue?

Thanks!

The case sensitive file system is what seemed to cause the problem on my
end. By default, OSX uses a non-case sensitive file system, which is what
you want in this case.

Hey Nathan,

I't trying to teach a robotics team best CAD practices. Class is a mixture of PC and Mac....constraints are not showing up....please send script to fix this Mac issue. Models without constraints are worthless.

Hi @Anonymous

Welcome to the community! I believe we may have addressed the underlying issue with case sensitive Mac OS's for this issue. I may be wrong, but I thought it might be helpful to check with you.

Are you saying that this is occurring on both Mac OS and PC's?

Since this post came out, we've added the ability to toggle visibility for sketch constraints in the sketch palette (see below). Could that be the issue?

One other question, if this is occurring on Mac OS, are you installing from the Mac Apple Store (MAS) or from the Autodesk website?

I look forward to your update. Please let me know if you have any questions.

Thanks,
