I'm new to Fusion 360. How would you create an elliptical crease (or dent) as the one below on a curved surface  such as a side wall of a cylindrical object?

I gave it a shot.  The only issue I cannot see to find a solution to is the transition between the elliptical surface and the cylindrical surface.  This becomes an issue if you try to thicken it and this edge forms a gap.  Oh well, you did just ask for surfaces.  File is attached if you want to take it apart.

Thanks! would it be possible for you to send the steps you used for creating it?

I figured out how to create the solid from the surfaces and then add the fillet transition between the elliptical dent and the tube.  Model is attached.

You say you are new to Fusion 360.  One of the techniques you can use to learn how someone created a model is to step the timeline back and take a look and/or edit each feature.  This method will describe all the steps used in the model.  Since you probably have not used this method, I did a rather length screencast.  It is attached.  I went on beyond the surface model and created the solid so I could fillet the edges.  This is the second model I posted.

By the way, if you edit the offset value of the the workplane containing the point sketch, you can dynamically change the height of the elliptical bulge, within reason of course.  I indicated the workplane feature in the timeline.
