how well do fusion 360 and inventor collaborate?

Hellow,

This is my question: When you start a design in fusion 360 can you end it in inventor? Do they share the same cloud etc?

When a company works with inventor and I work with fusion can we work on the same project? like when we both use fusion?

This would be easy for me because i'm a freelance.

can someone answer the questions?

greetings

Hi @Anonymous,

Thank you for posting!Smiley Happy

A360 is totally cloud storages for Autodesk products so we are able to see the files and share on the same project of A360.

Fusion 360 and inventor have different file format. (*.f3d VS *.ipt, iam…)

I would say that It’s not a perfect collaboration. Because Inventor doesn’t import Fusion file format yet. (Fusion 360 can import inventor file directly as dummy file). If you want to import file that made by Fusion 360, Inventor should need to change to the other format (stp or iges etc,,,)

I think if you are ok to use without history. It would be possible a little bit. You can just do “import” and “export”.

However Inventor user normally are used to use parametric environment. So I guess that it would feel uncomfortable…Smiley Sad

If you need more help, please let me know. I’ll be glad to support you.

Many thanks!

oke thanks for the info!!

But I think it would be a boost for fusion 360 when it could work together without losing it's intelligence. Correct me when i'm wrong.

Hi @Anonymous,

Thanks for pointing to that.

I absolutely agree with you.

It would be really helpful if we could exchange data between Fusion 360 and Inventor and keep the design history.

I have found a great post in our idea station here which is actually capturing what we described.

I have voted for it. Let´s gather more support for this idea

Thanks,

Having used Inventor since R7, I can tell you it's PATHETIC and WRONG that Adsk 'strategically' and DELIBERATELY omits live-data-exchange between Inventor and other lateral players, such as Revit, Advance Steel, F360, etc.

Live data exchange should have been BUILT-INTO the software from day-1.

Just goes to show how extortion works when INVESTORS are the target of success instead of end-users.
