How to turn off green circles on spline

I would like to turn off the green tangent circles/curves that appear whenever I edit a spline. They make it difficult to see the actual shape of the spline I am drawing. How can this be done?

Hi @Anonymous,

The circles are "curvature handles", for editing the curvature of the spline.  You can de-activate the spline tangent handles, which will turn off the circle display, but that will change your spline curve, and I suspect that is not what you want.  So, I guess the answer is no:  there is no way to disable the circle display without affecting the curve.

De-activating spline handle:

I just don't get it why I cannot get rid of that extremely annoying and useless green circles.

Those things clutter up the view in no time, cover other visual elements, are an immense hindrance.

So PLEASE give us an option for switching off that nonsense completely - up from the start, without destroying the curves already drawn.

And maybe publish a list of all F360 users finding that "green circles" helpful - I'm eager to learn if there's more than 1 or 2 all around the world. 😉

Put me on that list. I find them useful. Also I never find them to be confusing me, restricting me, or obscuring my vision of the spline itself. Ever.

So we've got one on the list. Second one still missing. 😉

Just try an example: Add the letter "R" as a Text element. And don't forget to do the typical "facepalm" if you find out there's no font preview. (WHY, Fusion???)

Now trace the outlines of that letter "R" using splines.

You'll face several problems.

a) If you add splines in sequence without stopping after each spline, they get connected, interact with each other. So if you change one curvature, your whole work done so far will get screwed.

That's something you just cannot believe if e. g. coming from CorelDraw where working with curves and it's Bezier tools is a breeze.

b) The amount of "green circles" will increase dramatically, that circles will start covering your splines, the whole workspace. And quite soon you'll find yourself not finding your splines anymore.

Just try.

That green circles maybe won't pose a problem if you work with a few splines here and there - but become a major nuisance if you need to work with lots of splines in a confined space.

So please: Just give us the option of switching off that "green circles" - and we'll all live happily ever after. 😉

1. You're the only one on the list of green curvature handle haters, at least as far as I can tell.

2. Whatever I type into the Text field of the Sketch>Text tool palette shows as a preview for me. Perhaps you're doing something wrong that we can help you with?

3. Why the heck would I ever trace a Text item with splines? It can already be exploded into its outline of elements, or in fact just be Extruded or whatever you want, as it is.

You really made me laugh, chris ... 😄

You really didn't notice I REPLIED to a topic of a "green curvature hater"? I did not start this topic, I REPLIED to the thread starter who also feels annoyed by that green mess.

Please read prior to anwering. Thank you.

You didn't notice the font of the text element displayed in the sketch does not dynamically change with your font selection? Obviously not. To see the new font, you need to select the font in the list by clicking, then open the font list again, search for the font where you left off, then select the next font - just to see how how different fonts look.

This is incredible counterintuitive. Usually, a font preview changes dynamically with the selection bar moving to the next font or your mouse pointer pointing at it. Natural behavior for quickly browsing through the fonts for selecting the right one right away.

Impossible with Fusion.

You didn't notice the term "example" I used? This is not for actually working on a specific matter, this is for providing a quick and retraceable situation showing the ugly face of that "green circles" cluttering up the view.

Just DO that example - and you'll get an idea of the problem.

And maybe then you'll also get an idea about why some "hater" wish to get rid of that green nuisance.

Devs: A simple switch-that-off option would do.

Oh good. Hey, sorry I didn't pay attention enough to notice that you weren't the OP. My bad.

Ah. Now I see. It isn't a dynamic preview. Right. I have to actually click on the font first. You're right. But, when I go to select another, the list reopens where I was. I don't have to "find" it again. So, half point for me, half point for you.

Okay, fine. I didn't find the green circles to be a distraction or hindrance of any kind. And yes, I really did it. Traced the letter R. With all splines. Watch me do it. Tell me where you think the green circles would have pissed you off. You may want to watch at 2x speed.

Nope, I hate them too.  Just screen junk for me.
