How to set a joint to its current state when the downloaded step file consists of a set of several components?

I download the rplidar step file and try to connect the joint to the chassis I made, but it's a set of components, so only the bottom of the rplidar is connected

Do I have to connect all the joints? I think there's a better way

Please attach your Fusion model.  I would imagine, it the components are located in the correct location, you may be able to add some As-Built Joints to speed up your process of adding joints.

If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

Accepted solution

I did not take the time to add assembly Joints to the degree they should be but maybe I will give you an idea. I used a lot of As-Built Joints and one large Rigid Group. I did allow for the animation of the Head component by the Motor. Just a heads up, the belt cannot be animated, it just sits there "appearing" to run on the pulley. I did not know the exact sizes of the pulleys, measured to get an approximate ratio. Model is attached.
