How to select points on a line in a sketch?

See the screen cast, sometimes it seems impossible to select the points I need to perform an operation any tips?

Hard to tell from the movie, your move is possible?, but 

The lower three lines in that sketch are black and a dimension is holding the vertical lines to a distance.

Zoom in closer, left click and hold, on the end of the line, select the point from that menu.  Otherwise Window select it.

Can you explain windows select it?

If I left drag a box around multiple objects I don't get any menu appearing?

Left click and hold with the mouse on the end point, the select other menu will pop up, slide down that menu to select just the one point you are looking for, 

This sort of thing happens when there are overlapping lines, and it difficult to select / identify the desired article, don’t know about your data.

Will need your file to demo with your data.
