How to open an previous version of a design ?

How does one open a previous version of a file ?

When I am in the dashbord and in the project I can click on the file and then on the clock icon in the window that pops up. 

The screenshot shows that I have selected Version 71 and one would asume thats what will be opened when "Open in Fusion 360" is selected.

Howeverthat is not what is then loaded in Fusion 360. I am still getting the latest version 😕

At this time I am excited about Fusion 360 but also rather frustrated. The software has repeatedly crashed in the 4 days I've worked with it and I've posted several bug reports here on the forum. The latest problem is that the sotware crashes when I try to edit the sketch for the base extrude. the crash happens when I close the sketh, eve if nothing in the sketch is changed. This has happened with at least one other sketch.

As I wanted to change the base extrude the other approach I took was to roll back the timeline and then change the sketch of the base extrude in this state. This worked but when rolling the timeline forward at about 85% there is one step where the software crashes yet again reliably.

So a prior version is desired so I can at least try to work from that.

Sorry for the confusion. In order to edit the older version you want, you have to promote it using this button

Highlighting an older version shows it in the viewer but it doesn't open that version.  I've passed the issue on to the team to fix.

We would also like to investigate the crash you are experiencing with the latest version of the data set.  I searched our crash error report (CER) database, but was unable to find your most recent crash reports.  Have you been sending crash reports?  If so are you using the same email address you were using when you were experiencing the crashed related to your "Fusion 360 ultimate crashes repeatedly" post?

Hi Kris,

I apologize. In order to find the particular point where Fusion 360 ultimate crashes I had to iteratively roll forward the timeline and naturally as I "overstepped" the point where it crashes several times I forgot to generate a crash report. However, now I've found the one marker in the timeline where it crashes and created crash report CER_105306165. 

This was with Version 76 of the design file.

Then I went a head and promoted a prior version. What promoting actually does is not explained or self evident in the UI. The UI provides no imediate feedback if anything was actually clicked and an operation was started. Not so great!

Either way with Version 80 I attempted to edit the "Base Extrusion" sketch directly without rolling back the timeline. I just opened the sketch and upon closing the skech Fusion also crashes repeatedly. No editswere made. The crash report for that is  CER_105306913.

This is not the only sketch that happes with. I open-closed the sketch "Stud center" and Fusion crashes here as well.

Please let me kow when this wil be fixed. Being able to go back and modify a sketch is quite essential.

Unless there is a workaround that I am not aware of at this point I've hit a roadblock with Fusion 360!

In A360 you can view each version, but to edit that version you have to promote it as Carl has previously mentioned.

Once promoted it becomes the current version and can be edited.

The button "Open in Fusion 360" is confusing and ideally should be greyed out when selecting previous versions of the file.

We have been working on your issue.  Your latest CER's are related to the crashes you experienced in your "Fusion 360 ultimate crashes repeatedly" post.  The joints are causing the crash.  We believe your design got into this state by restructuring of components which contained joints. Operations related to restructure are copy, paste, and drag and drop from within the browser.  We have a fix for your previously reported issue, however to ensure it fixes this issue as well, can send me the design file via email?  My email is kris.berg@autodesk.com.

I just sent you an email with more specific details.  The fix we have for your previous issue also fixes this issue.  The fix for your issue will be included in a hotfix release we are planning to release in the next couple of weeks. In the meantime, to avoid the issue, you should structure your design first and then create the joints.
