How to model bent wood

I've got a design I created in the Model environment.  I have one flat body (which will be a piece of plywood) that I want to bend in one direction - so it's like a ramp.  I assume I have to switch to the sculpt environment.   I haven't done anything in the sculpt environment yet.  What's the best way to go about bending my plywood body from a flat sheet into a curved ramp?  The shape of the ramp is not critical.

This is a current limitation of Fusion. What you want is a "Bend" command, currently there is nothing like that in Fusion. We would love to implement it and are keenly aware of the benefits of such a command.

For now, what you will need to do is model the piece after bending.

I'm curious, what is your workflow? How does bending a flat help your designs?

Thanks!

There is a thread already about such operation but I can remember the title. So here it goes.

In some case you can use this process here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hicToIPxYJI

What sort of shape are you tending to create? Share some ideas and I see if I can do something for you.

Cheers

I'm building a game that's about the size of a phoosball table.  But instead of soccer players there will be two 4-axis robotic arms that will shoot a ping pong ball around.  I have my playing surface and where the goal is I want the surface to ramp downward so the ball rolls down it.  In the attached screenshot, I'd like the narrower section to bend to the bottom of the oval opening.

Hey Scott, that sounds absolutely awesome!  It would be really cool if you could share that when you geti it working 🙂

I would say one of the easier ways to model this is to first model just a curved rectangular board, such as by first in Patch workspace extruding a curved arc or spline, then thickening the surface.  After that, you can use your existing profile shape from the unbent board as the cutting tool for Split body command, such that the cutting "blade" will extend out perpendicular from the plane your existing profile shape is in.

I saw this post from 2015, is there now 2021 a "Bend Command" in Fusion?

I'm looking for a way to bend a flat part into a rotational die, as used for corrugated pipes tools.

Thanks.

No, there has not been a direct bend tool, much to my dismay! For some applications the sheet metal tools offer a workaround. Whether or not that applies to your model can only be determined once you post more details and perhaps share the model.

My suggestion would be to create a new therad.

Hi,

Please remember to present your project in the new thread with embedded images.
