I know that there has been discussion about modeling tapered pipe threads, but wondering if there is a way around it for this?
This is a threaded insert for wood. It is tapered slightly towards the bottom.
I've already been able to model it as a 3D body, then use that to cut the target body to create and accurate pocket for it. This works except that without the threads cut, I need to install it using a special jig I made to keep it straight while starting the threads. Otherwise it can end up a little crooked.
So, it there any way to model a tool path with a thread cutter to have it cut those threads (even if it's not F360 threads?). It's 9 TPI, very coarse.
Thanks.
