I've created what's basically a really complicated box, where there's a dozen or so parameters that define how it looks.
Now I can change the parameters and have them show up in the model, i.e. changing height, width, and depth for different situations.
The problem is I need to capture configuration A, B, C etc. for CAD. Its not realistic to change the parameters on the fly, since there's a fair amount of layout that needs to be done by hand to get the different sizes laid out for the CNC, so changing the parameters for a new design would blow away the work done for the previous size laying out the panels on the 4'x8' Shopbot stock.
I thought that perhaps I could "insert" the design into another file, and then edit the parameters there without hanging the original, but the new parameters didn't seem to take effect in the new file.
I tried copying the design, and that did allow for different parameters, but now I've got two designs to edit to fix design flaws, and there's going to be a dozen more variations, so its not possible to maintain that many variations from separate design files.
What am I missing here? I've searched all over the help but couldn't find a solution.
Thanks!
