How to make a wrap around ring?

Hi!

I am trying to make a wrap around ring by creating a coil (with triangle shaped profile to be able to later use the edge as a rail when lofting the two circle profiles). I think the problem is that the bottom profile is not perpendicular to the projected line of the rail but I don't know how to fix it. Also I would like the rail to continue with a straight line on each end as seen but by adding those lines the rail gets split so I won't be able to use the loft tool. Would be great with some advice on this or a better method for creating the wrap around ring.

Many thanks

Here's one sneaky way to do it 😉

Wow that is really amazing! Thank you!

However, I would like the bottom of the ring to be thinner so it has to be a profile at the bottom of the rail and I couldn't get that one 90 degrees towards the rail, how will I fix that?

Many thanks

Add another sketch using the main origin plane that is coplanar with the ends of the ring.  Use the Project|Intersect command to locate the position of the small circle.

Hi!

I'm stuck at the first step, this since it won't allow to sweep (the ok button is inactive), see attached image.

The line segments for the profile and the path need to be in different sketches.

These sketches need to be created on origin planes (or construction planes) that are perpendicular to each other.
