Hi. You know how the mirrors on a disco ball are placed?

They are placed in a spiral that follows the sphere from top to bottom.

Now, imagine that all the squares are merged into one long "rectangle" that follows the spiral around the sphere top to bottom. How do I model this in fusion? or any other CAD program if it is possible?

There might be some geometry issues with the top and bottom due to some math that probably won't work out.

But if it's possible to just make the spiral work 80% of the sphere and then skip 10% of top and buttom. This would also be fine.

How do I model this?
Thank you for any input on this topic.

Best regards

Hi, thank you so much for your input. However, I have already tried this method. The issues with this method is the the spacing is no longer equal.

Is there a way to get around this issue?

Hi,

the spiral has a constant slope.
For your need, the slope would have to be a function of the body contour.

Here is one idea on how you can create the slope using geometry in a sketch.

And using emboss on an intermediate body getting the slope curve.
Did a pipe cut on a sphere for visualization.
