I am trying to move the component to align it with another component, I want to do this by selecting the face of one of the bodies in that component, this issue I have is all the other components imported into the component I am trying to move are highlighted in blue when they should be invisible. How can i stop them from becoming visible when i select the component?

A few Questions here..

Do you want to move only the Bodies..?

Or do you only want the Hidden ones too..?

See, Because you have selected Components in the Selection Option. So whether the Bodies inside are made Visible, or Hidden, it will select all of them.

If you want to keep the Hidden bodies where they are you have 2 options.

1. Select Bodies from the Selection Menu under Move Command, and select the Visible Bodies manually. (Might be tiering if you have more bodies.. By size and Quantity both)

2. Create a New File which consists of the Hidden bodies, make them into 1 Component, and than Insert it into the Design.

If the Bodies that are hidden are a few, you can create Component from Bodies in the same File.

So you have to create a New Component comprising of the Bodies you dont want to see..

Because Move command by default selects the Hidden Bodies inside the Component if you are selecting Component as a Selection...

this is a weird behavior that I've come across from time to time also.  It's super annoying and I don't know how to address it.

but something else in your work description caught my attention and I though I might say something about it

using Move and align to position components is not how you position components in fusion.  It will lead to all sorts of issues down the road.

there are only 2 viable ways to position a component-

1-build in place and use an "as built" type of joint (top down type of design, not what you've done here)

or

2-use a regular joint.

delete any position captures from your time line

I don't see this as an Issue..

rushabhthakkar_910_0-1646328184416.png When selecting the Bodies/Components to Move, If you select Components from the DropDown, it will select all the Bodies inside the Component. Whether you male them Visible or Hide them.

But if you select Bodies from the Drop Down, you can still select the Hidden Bodies, but you will have to select them manually from the Browser.

And if you drag the Cursor in the Workspace to select the Bodies, the Hidden ones won't be selected..

@JaredReabow - there have been bugs in the past the resemble this.  hard to reproduce, and don't always happen.  sometimes shutting down and restarting stops the behaviour.

it can also be related to your browser organization.  is the body/face your selecting living in the browser at the same level as sub components, like this?-

laughingcreek_0-1646330731478.png

in this case, selecting a face on the body (in my example pic) will highlight all the sub components also when doing a move.  this body should be a component also, instead of floating around at the assembly level.

@JaredReabow - this is just the behavior when selecting a component.  The highlight shows all of the component, even hidden bodies and components.  I understand that this can be annoying, but the behavior is intentional - to be informative about what all is selected, even if it is currently not visible.  So, I don't think the correct answer is to NOT highlight hidden geometry unconditionally.  Ideally, a user preference would exist to allow you to control this, but there are no current plans for such a preference.  I will log an enhancement request for this preference, if one does not already exist (I have seen a handful of requests for this in the past, but TBH, the number is pretty small).

this issue already exists as FUS-40315, so I added a reference to this thread to add weight to that request

I would also love to keep the hidden components hidden when moving the whole assembly. The way they are showed in a blue transparent color it makes it very difficult to to move just a component Point to Point or Point to Position. Sometimes it takes hours just to put everything in place. The main reason we hide the components is not to see them when working with the assembly .

Hi,
I'm makin posable minis with fusion and I really need this option to be availble, moving hands with 20 weapons in blue all together I can't see nothing and lose a lot of time...

Do you know if there is some kind of advancement on it?

At least let the users change the colour or transparency value for hidden bodies inside a component. Like others, I find this extremely annoying and of very little value. I can see what bodies are inside my component by looking at the browser. Having all hidden bodies/components highlighted when moving the parent component makes it sometimes impossible to see anything at all.
