I've seen how to do a slot joint when the planes match up but I want to do a slot joint a few inches back on a pin. I can't figure out how to make it work. I've tried pin-slot but can't make it work without moving to end or center of the pin. I want the rod to stay where it is in the pics but move along the slot. Thanks
Please attach your model. If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

I do not believe there is a method of animating this motion but you an manually exercise it using a Parameter. You may have considered using Contact Sets but again there is not a method of driving it along the path, especially with a Contact Set involved. The video will explain. I am returning your model as an F3Z file so when you upload it be cautious where you do it.

This is an entirely different model as far as the rod motion. It is a straight slot, is this what you need now?

The new model with the corrected motion is attached. This one is a piece of cake compared to the other one. In the video I show you the substitute for using a Contact Set. You should avoid Contact Sets if at all possible, they can be a real pain as you add joints.
