How to get a sketch from design?

Hi everyone and thank you for your help.

I am busy with the design for a box for my diode laser/engraver and learning more and more as I go along. I managed to design the front, back, left and right panels. After this I extruded all of them in order for me to use the finger joint add-in. It can only joint bodies and not sketches.

I need to make/get sketches from all 4 panels in order to make the toolpaths that I use in my CNC's software. These I need to save/export as DXF files. I know that it is possible to save sketches as DXF but not bodies. When I right-click on a body, there is not option to create a text from the geometry of the bodies.

I am sure that it is possible but I don't know what to search/look for?

Thank you very much so long for your advice.

Create a sketch on the surface of the body.
Select "Poject" to get the outlines

Save the sketch as DXF

The default is to create an output sketch, project the face and save as dxf.
I use the Addin on GitHub called DXFer.

Select all required faces of the bodies,

you will receive a single dxf file with each face outline as a block / layer.

if working with Components, you can Arrange those into one export sketch.

Might help.

I use a free add-in called DXF for Laser. Does this task very well and importantly cleans up after itself so as to keep your Timeline from getting cluttered!

Windows OS Link but there is a macOS version as well

Hi Dave.
I downloaded everything and followed installation as per instructions to the teeth. Is shows in the Scripts and Add-Ins box. Run at startup is ticked and I clocked "Run" but cannot find it. Even if I hit the S for the search to open, search does not find it.
Am I doing something wrong?
