How to fill "holes" in a complex solid ?

Hello,

I'd like the body in the screenshot to be a solid piece with no "holes" in it so I can 3D print it. How should I do it ?

Thank you!

Boundary fill will do it.  You may have to place some planes at ant external openings, like the barrel.

Post a your model for more specific help (export .F3D from file menu and attach)

Hi, I tried doing that but I didn't manage to make it work. What did I do wrong ? (Sorry the screencast is extra long my computer is kind of slow).

I could't upload the file since it's to big.

Thank you!

I didn't watch the whole thing, fast forwarded a bit.  did you select all the cells, or just the one?  Try selecting all of them

And I'm somewhat surprised the file was to big to upload.  I've seen way bigger files here.  are you exporting from the file menu as a .F3D?

I tried selecting all the cells as well it didn't work either. I deleted the history and some (useless) stuff so I could upload the file.

Being a pretty good representation of a real mechanical part, there are lots of gaps around the various moving parts.  Like a LOT of gaps.  this makes boundary fill difficult b/c you pretty much have to fill them all with a plane or something, and it's hard to see them all.  If you really want to make it a solid, and not lose any details, then you will need to divide and conquer.  If you still have the full scale model, you can start there.  combine thing 2 or 3 parts at a time.  and if something is entirely internal (like the recoil spring or the bullets) skip them entirely.
