How to extrude into a curve

Hopefully the screenshot and file can help explain this. I'm trying to extrude inside this curve for the bolt head. Obviously the curve is angled so the bolt head can't sit inside. This is a laser tube mount so the bolt can't be on the outside of this curve. I've tried to just create a sketch but when I click the plane it doesn't start at the curve.

Not checked the file yet.

Horizontal sketch through the 2 cylinders, Revolve cut the bolt head profile.

Might help.....

I'm lost at the horizontal sketch between the cylinders.

There has to be a better way than what I did but I accomplished this by creating an offset plane from the backside and extruding a circle from it. The problem is I couldn't line up the inside circle perfectly with the one already created. I had to turn off snap and zoom in and go from there. Still open to better ideas.

Horizontal Offset Plane, at the centre of the hole.

Project > Intersect the hole wall, and sketch a rectangle for the head of the bolt on one side, and revolve cut the counterbore.

Learn to use the Project Tools.

Checked out your file, blue lines (except spline) should keep you awake at night.

You are working too hard.  Check my timeline.

Actually no user created Worplanes are needed for this design.

I will post example tomorrow.

Another method to do these counterbore holes is to Extrude from an offset profile.  The Screencast will explain.

Correct, when starting from scratch.  Cleaned up my file even more than this one to one hole command.

@rhetteshleman

Your sketches are not fully defined (blue geometry should keep you awake at night) - this is bound to cause you trouble moving forward.

Do you want to learn to do this correctly?

I appreciate yours and everyone's help. Blue geometry definitely doesn't keep me up at night but I'd obviously like to learn the correct way to do things. It appears Fusion has a few ways to do the same task. I'm learning as I go and use fusion mainly for CNC machining. I just built a 3d printer hence the different models I'm now creating.

Open your part file.
Edit Sketch2.

Attempt to click and drag the center points of the four circles.

What do you observe?

Does your observation match your true Design Intent?

Simple, you have a surface where the other 2 bolts will bolt onto, use that to extrude a space for the other boltheads.

Here is your file back with one step added.

and here is his file all locked down and removes empty sketches and filleted some sharp edges.

There are many ways to skin a cat, but you are correct, skin a cow and eat like a king
