How to extrude a rectangle properly ?

Hi, I'm new to Fusion 360.

I'm trying to do something rather simple : creating a rectangle in volume. I've watched several tutorials and it looks pretty easy. However, when it comes to practice, nothing works as expected.

I start drawing a rectangle with sketch tool. Then I use extrude. The menu I have doesn't look like the one of the others tutorials. For instance, I don't have the "operation" window. When I apply it, only my edges are extruded (see picture).

To achieve my goal, I have use loft to create a king of bridge between the edges and then I have extruded (see picture)Fusion_rectangle_2.png

It works but it seems rather complicated to me.

An other thing, my rectangle is curved. How can I specify that I want to keep it straight ?

Thanks a lot for reading me,

Johanna.

look at the top left corner of your work space.  You will see that you are in the "sculpt" environment.  Change it to the "model" environment, and then try extruding your sketch.
