How to edit component with in the assembly without exiting in the assembly environment. the assembly was design in bottom up approached not a top down design. in inventor just right click the the component and select edit component then you are automatically directed in the part environment but you see the entire assembly so you can link your component to other component.

Just right click on the component listed on the browser,

select "save component copy as" en save a copy, that you can modify later,

then you must to refresh your work file

-> in Fusion you cannot edit the geometry of a linked component "without exiting".

-> the software tool you are using is Fusion 360 and not Inventor.

It might be helpful to familiarize yourself with the concept and recommended workflows of the software tool you are using before starting a project. Might save time and reduce frustration.

Maybe @TrippyLighting or somebody from Autodesk is willing to give you background information.

No background information needed. If @Anonymous works predominantly with bottom up designs, then Fusion 360 is not a good tool to do so at this time.

You can create assemblies in Fusion 360 without using linked components 😉
