How to evenly space drill holes along a path

What I want to do that I am not experienced enough in F360 to do is to be able to make a series of drill holes along a path length that when the path length is resized, the drill holes remain equally distanced.

So for example, if I have a path length of, say 10 inches and I have 5 X 1/16 in holes evenly spaced (to the center of hole) along that 10 inch path, if I decide to increase that path to 15 inches, the 5 drill holes will remain 1/16" but also remain equal distance apart along the path.
Is there a way this can be done or do I have to manually space the holes every time I change the path length?

Thanks so much,

Patterns can do that when the setting of Extents is used.

Might help....

I'm going to give it a try.  If it works out I'll mark this as the solution.

Thanks for the response.

So I took a look at this and I don't think it is what I need. Since I have to have the path be a body, it;s not really what I want.

If I could have my way ideally I'd like to be able to pattern a body along a construction line as all I want to pattern in the drill holes and nothing else.

Just use User Parameters and formulas.
If the path is a straight line, then use a Rectangular pattern.  Set the Distance Type to Extent and Distance equal to the length of the path. Modify the path using dimensions and user parameters.

If the path is a circle or arc, use a Circular pattern.

If the path is a spline, use a Pattern on Path.  You'll probably need some math for this.

Rectangular and Circular patterns can be done with sketch items or 3d geometry.  Pattern on Path requires 3d geometry for the object, but the path can be the edge of 3d geometry or sketch geometry.

Pattern on Path is exactly what I need however I am trying to do this in the sketch model and not 3d. I have partially been able to do this by using the rectangular pattern over a straight line but not along the spine.

I did find a tutorial online that worked well for the design but I'm having issues getting my CAM setup.

What is the use case for parametric holes on a spline?

Hi,

1. pattern on path only works in 3 D mode

2. control point spline is easier to dimension than a fit point spline (screencast)

3. If the spline lenght varies the last instance has to be fit to the new endpoint. (screencast)
