How to engrave a curved surface / solid

Hi. I want to ask what ways there are to engrave lines into a curved surface, solid or tspline.

The aim is to put an engraved line with same width and depth, which is a practice in model kits.

2. project to surface

Hi,
For solid bodies you need to make a sketch first, it can be either a surface or a new body having a specific thickness. Then use split body or face>> select the face you want to perform the task and the sketch as a tool.

@g-andresenmy plan is to modify the model, not modify a real piece.
