how to edit mirrored components while retaining mirrored updating

had trouble coming up with a title. it's a little complicated.

I created a component that has some holes.

I mirrored the component (it is a folding knife handle if that helps visualize)

now, the holes are in the correct places, but one side needs to be modified (a pass through hole with a countersink recess vs a threaded hole)

i don't want to completely divorce the copy from the mirror--just a few components, like holes and bosses. But, the rest of the component should retain mirroring. There is still some aesthetic modeling that needs to be done once I've prototyped for fit. So, I want to retain mirroring for the design elements.

Is this possible?

@mark.holkan - in Fusion, the Mirror Component operation is a timeline feature like any other.  Operations which happen before the Mirror will be reflected in the mirrored copy, operations which happen after the mirror will only affect the original (or the mirrored copy).

This is not true, though with regular component instances, because those instances share the same geometry - any geometry change will affect all instances of that component.
