How to edit a tool component that was used to cut another component?

I've used the combine tool to cut into one component with another. Now I want to change the dimensions of the tool component, but when I do this by going into the timeline and editing the original sketch it also cuts the other component. Is there a way to edit the original tool without affecting the originally cut component?

I've added images to show this. I want the original T to cut into the other object, then I want to change the shape of the T and add notches. When I do this it, the new shape cuts into the other object, not the old one.

I have several of this T component in my design, so I need a simple solution to change the shape of all of them without affecting the original cut.

Hi @Anonymous,

Normally that should work.

Can you share your model so we can take a look at it.

This is a test example of my problem.

The first one shows the original T shape I want to cut the other object with -  https://a360.co/2MQEpaq

This is what happens when I change the sketch for the T component. If you hide the T you can see it has cut the other component with the new shape. I don't want this to happen. I want to keep the original rectangular cut. https://a360.co/2KUOMs2

Edit your T sketch. Put a line in on each side, such that the arcs are divided from the straight T shape.

Now edit your Extrude>Cut feature and select the T without the arcs. Your other Component should go back to straight sided cuts. Make another Extrude>New Body that includes the arcs for your T Component.
