How to create string parameters in Fusion

Hello everyone,

I’m currently trying to solve an issue I’m facing with a set of part models I’m designing using parameters.

Stakeholders typically send me a spreadsheet containing the dimensions for each new part, which I import into Fusion 360. This automatically generates both the 3D model and its associated 2D drawing. However, the comments associated with the parameters—which often include essential information such as machine applicability, warehouse instructions, or outdated use cases—must be manually transferred to the drawing, as (at least up to now) there is no native way to reference them directly within the 2D environment.

Given that this is a living document that evolves over time, I often need to review and verify the imported .csv file with each update. This manual step increases the risk of errors or omissions, which could lead to downstream issues in production or inventory management.

I have attempted to solve this with some available add-ins, but none have yielded the desired results so far.

Therefore, I’m reaching out to the community and collective expertise to see if anyone has found a workaround or would be interested in exploring a new development path that could support this kind of functionality.

Any insights or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Best regards,
Marcelo

The reason your Comments are not being imported into the Fusion Parameter table is because the Comment column, in the Excel CSV file, is in the wrong place.  How it got in this position, I do not know, but if you move it as shown in the video, the comments will import into the Fusion Parameter table just fine.
