How to create a seat for a stool like this

Hello

I am trying to create a seat for a stool like this cork seat but end up with errors. I would prefer to use sweep or loft to maintain control with sketches rather than sculpt tool that I am not comfortable with (yet at least). What would be your workflow to create this seat? I would appreciate it if someone could point me in the right direction or if there is any tutorial I  could look into.

Thank you!

We will need to read your file, to see why the Sweep is in error, should work.

top View Draw a Slot that is the path centre line, half the Slot overhanging.  Delete the over hanging arc, keeping the two legs and the curve over the seat.

Front View, Draw a circle / segment to the leg groove shape, and Sweep the shaped path as a cut.  When that works you can edit for shape and size that suits.

Might help....

lofting a seat like this in fusion is not for the faint of heart.  You'll need a firm grasp on using general sketching, splines, lofts, and surfaces.   attached is a quick, rudimentary example of an approach you might find interesting to work through.

FWIW-I use to do all my shapes like this (chair seats, arched top guitars, etc) strictly using surfacing approaches, like in the attached.  I only use T-splines (form mode) now.  I found I can do it faster, and make the inevitable corrections faster, with t-splines.  and it's less work to get a higher level of form refinement.  Here's some pics of a stool seat done with t-splines-

@laughingcreek Beautiful work!

I also would do this as a T-spline and I often cannot even exactly say why I choose to make something in T-spline rather than with surfacing.

Eww... I can't say why the heck you would do this as a T-spline either.

A single loft cut... now that's my parametric idea of simplicity.
