How to create a positioned sketch

Hello, Im new with Fusion 360 but I have plenty of experience on other CAD softwares. I was wondering if Fusion 360 has a way of making a positioned sketch such as Catia V5. If not will there be this option included on further updates? I found this sketching tool to be very usefull when working on complex forms and parts because it lets you have an organizde way of viewing and creating your sketches on the position you desire.

Thanks!

All sketches are created on planes which can either be a face of a model, an origin plane, or a manually created plane.  Sketch geometry can be located anywhere on the plane.  Position of the geometry can be controlled using dimensions. When you create a sketch on the face of a model, the geometry on that face can be automatically projected to the sketch.  The setting for this is at Preferences|General|Design Auto project geometry on active sketch plane.

Hi etfrench,

I think I didn't explain myself. What I meant by positioned Sketch is: for
example I want to create a sketch on a plane as you mentioned but right now
Fusion 360 pre-determines the position the sketch should have based on the
plane you chose. On a positioned sketch you can define the plane, the point
for the origin your sketch will have, the X and Y axis of your Sketch based
on an axis or line you previously created (or the origin), this way you can
give your sketch any orientation within the plane that you chose.

This type of sketches become really useful at the time of working on a
complex assembly with different origins and orientations of each part that
makes the assembly.

If you create the sketch inside a component, you can move and rotate the component precisely.

No, you can't define a sketch in that way.  pretty sure it's in the idea station if you want to vote for it. Would be a nice to have.

Yes, it’s a very versatile tool for creating sketches. Where do I access this idea vault? There are more things I`d like to propose.

Thank you.
