This is probably a really basic question, but say i wanted to take an existing design and copy it to a new project so i can make small differences and have a new version, so to speak?

If the design is self contained with no linked components it's as simple as right click on the design in the data panel and select copy. If you have links in the design to other designs in the project I think the only way is to download the main assembly file then upload the FZ3 file to the new project. If you have a 2d drawing linked to the main design and you want to copy that just download the drawing and it should bring all the designs files along with it.

The easiest way to download is use the dashboard in you internet browser, link below.

When you have the fz3 file stored locally use Fusion's data panel to upload to the new project.

I have tried this. After download, rename, upload, the file appears but there is no preview available and will not open.

@dan.seidel Did you upload using Fusion's data panel? If you use the online dashboard the file's not imported, just uploaded.

I have tried uploading from online and the data panel. I can see the files in the data panel but they will not open.

After downloading from online the instructions say the file type should be fz3. But the file type just says "file".

Can't really help without seeing what you're doing, can you make a screencast? Download Here.

@dan.seidel The screencast's set to private , not sure how easy it is to change to unlisted but might be easier to record again and make sure you set it to unlisted.

Downloading a folder doesn't work, it only downloads non Fusion files so pretty uselessSmiley Mad, unfortunately there is no way to download the entire contents to create a library you can reuse or share.

The last option you used should work, don't know why you have no file extension that's real odd. Have you tried to redownload? You might want to try requesting a download of one of your 2d drawings as it should bring all related files with it. When you upload the fz3 file make sure you use the data panel in Fusion as it does need to be translated and the data panel is the only way. Also make sure you upload to a different folder as designs of the same name are allowed!

***EDIT*** REMOVING PHONE NUMBER

Mark,

I tried it with a drawing and a different folder. Same problem. When I download the file type is not f3z. It just says file.

If you would rather talk on the phone my number is XXXX

Just tested out downloading a 2d drawing using the online dashboard and used the link in the email and got an FZ3 file so not sure why you're having problems. Don't suppose you have some security software that's removing the extension, have you tried adding the fz3 extension to the file you have then upload, Fusion can only translate file types it knows.

@innovatenate can you help?
