How to copy and paste a sketch

Hey there, I am very new to Fusion 360 and still trying to find my way around. This one has really got me scratching my head. How do you copy a basic 2D sketch? I am selecting the shape, let's say a center point circle, using CTRL + C and then CTRL + V. Nothing happens. If I right click on the circle it gives me the option to redo paste, but it does not create a 2nd shape.

How can I achieve this? In the more basic offering of 123D, when I hit copy and paste, even with a 2D sketch, it pops up the new shape and provides the move tool.

@grayed Sorry to hear that. If you don't mind, what are you using Fusion (or any other app) to create?

And since you mentioned it, can you let me know what tutorials you are having trouble with? I can check if they need an update or more clarity. They are designed to be easy and clear, so if you're having a different experience it's important we hear from you about it.

Regarding selection of a sketch rectangle, I'm curious why you think you must select all the elements separately. Have you tried doing this?

select elements you want to copy, right click, "copy".  then right click "paste".

or the standard ctrl C and ctrl V

Plus the two important steps in between,

Copy then deselect the articles you just copied.

Select / arrive at the destination for the Paste.

Paste.

Might help....

Fusion 360 randomly changes the selection type at odd times.  You just need to reset it to Window Select.

What seems random is actually by design. The selection styles all have default hotkeys. 1, 2, or 3. What might have happened is you pressed "2" or "3" when a command was not running, and that activated the other selection style.

To avoid: Edit the hotkeys for selection styles, remove the number, leave it blank, and it will never happen again.

While you are on the selection menu, check out some other cool selection tools:

It also changes when no keys have been pressed.  Unfortunately, I don't have the repro steps other than I noticed it while dragging a control point spline around.

Normally a UI interaction like actively dragging an object should never change selection style. Some commands have defaults that are specific for the command, or workspace. Mesh is a good example. Paint selection is default in mesh modeling because it's a common expectation and very handy in that setting. But it should not "stick" after you are done with mesh.

Definitely no meshes in the file.  Are these default settings documented somewhere?

No.

If you can catch it in a screencast it might help to reproduce it on our side.
