How to connect finger hinges

Anonymous
Not applicable

I have two finger segments where one has a hinge hole gap for a hinge pin to go through and the other has a hinge pin at the top of it. I am going to 3D print both objects.  I want to connect the hinge obviously but i am wondering whats the best way to do it and am rather stumped about it as it is blocked off by the sides.

How would i go about joining them?

This is a simple Revolute Joint

Go to assembly menu in the model environment

Could you elaborate in a bit more detail?
Im worried if i just put the pin through the hole and join the two, it will print out stiff and unable to rotate.

@Anonymous: I'm a beginner. Perhaps things are to complicated in my solution.I tried to find a solution without manually offset anything. Because of this I've create custom origins and than I've created the joint.

@lichtzeichenanlage

I appreciate your effort but the whole joint origin thing isn't necessary

I wasn't able to select the center origin if I just have two components with one boddy. I didn't want to reposition the joint manually. What would be the better way?

You can use the ctrl key by holding it to get the center

Here is a quick screencast to make it clearer

Print them all at once, the print in place method,

test print some cylinders and pins to find the sweet / compatible dimensions.
