How to clean up the model tree?

Hello forum. I have a question regarding cleaning up the model tree in Fusion 360 without effecting the drawing.

I am a daily user of PTC Creo in my main work so I am familiar with 3D CAD modeling software.

The assembly I am currently working on has many nails and screws installed into it. This has made the assembly model tree very cumbersome. In Creo we can group together multitudes of parts like this so that the model tree can be cleaned up. In Fusion 360, I know I can create a "dummy component" and drag those parts into it, but that has the effect of changing the parts list on the drawing. Adding the dummy part and removing all the hardware. How can I perform the same action but have it not change the parts list on the drawing?

Thanks

Can you please attach your model.  If you do not know how to attach your Fusion 360 model follow these easy steps. Open the model in Fusion 360, select the File menu, then Export and save as a F3D or F3Z file to your hard drive. Then use the Attachments section, of a forum post, to attach it.

This is going to be the best you can do to maintain the call out of your fasteners.

Yeah, I saw that, but it does weird things to the Item numbers (Item No. 8.1, 8.2 ???), and you can't remove the "Hardware" from the parts list. It also adds dummy "Components" to the parts list that also can't be removed.

As I said, this is the best you are going to be able to do.

We (some Autodesk Expert Elite members) had a conversation about Bowser organization and BOM structure  with members of the Fusion 360 team. The need for better organizational tools is recognized and at some point in time "something" will be implemented.

My personal opinion is that a folder based system such as in SolidWorks, for example, is really too one-dimensional to sort things. The ability to easily define and apply user defined tags along with the ability to sort and filter for objects (not just components) with such tags is vastly more flexible and useful than than a folder based approach.

I was able to find a work around by making sure I group together only identical parts in the model tree. The I can rename the dummy part to that part name and i'll fill out the parts list correctly. I can do this with all the other hardware parts to achieve the effect I need.
