How to change the 3d model reference of a 2d drawing?

Is there any way to change the 3d reference model of a 2d drawing, that is more convenient / user friendly than the workaround suggested in the the below thread?

https://forums.autodesk.com/t5/fusion-360-design-validate/how-to-change-the-model-reference-for-a-dr...

EXPLANATION: I have a number of parts with only minor dimensional differences. It would be ideal if I could draw a 3d model of the first part and an associated 2d drawing. Then for each additional part, just save that 3d model as a new file and make the appropriate dimension changes to it. Then save the 2d drawing as a new file and change its reference model to the new 3d file. I was able to do this easily in Inventor.

The process is easy but can take a bit of time, mainly when you have requested the Fusion 360 Archive from the A360 web database.  The Screencast outlines it all.  NOTE: If you model has not changed a great deal, you can Upload the same F3Z file over again and again, renaming each time.  You must Upload it each time if you do this, just renaming will not work.

thank you for the video. This works great for single parts.

However, if you have an assembly with multiple parts that are linked into your fusion database, pulling the drawing from an archive not only creates a new assembly model, but all the linked parts also. So now i have multiple copies of the parts forever.  Its going to get quite messy.

It would still be nice to have the option in fusion to change the drawing model please.

For anyone still wondering whether this is possible, like I was, there is a quick way to do it. Only took me an hour to figure out...thanks Autodesk.

- Navigate to your existing 3D part in the online

- Select copy (on the 3D part)

- A popup should appear, with the option to "include drawings". Make sure to include.

Once you select your desired destination folder, both the 2D and 3D drawings should be copied. They should now be linked to each other(and not to the original files at all). Make the desired changes in the 3D, then open the 2D and refresh.

Hope this helps!
