how to change and select drawn polygon

Hi there!

How can I change the number of sides of a drawn polygon,

select (and move) a polygon in one piece,

change the size of a drawn polygon,

ad a polygon to an existing (rectangular) pattern?

I have drawn a circle and made a rectangular pattern with it.

Around the circle I drew a 7-sided polygon, centered with the circle.

Now I want to change the size and number of sides of the polygon and add the polygon to the pattern.

I can change the polygon size by adding a dimension of course.

But when I right-click on the polygon icon, there's no option to change the parameters.

This would be very handy.

When you draw a circle, an instant dimension is created. Why not for polygons?

When I right-click the pattern icon I, then there's an option to change all parameters, but I can not add the polygon's geometry.

Another problem is that in this case the pattern and polygon icons are placed on top of each other, and therefor very hard to select.

Can you help me out?

Kind regards,

Dennis Henninger

No, today there is no way to edit a sketch polygon to change the number of sides.  You will have to delete the old one and create a new one.

Regarding selecting the pattern vs the polygon icon, use "select other" (press and hold the left mouse button for a short while, and a list will appear with everything that is underneath the cursor:

select other.png

Here is a short screencast showing this in action in your case:

To use parameters to change diameter and number of sides on the polygon,

step back a bit, and use parameterised sketched triangle, then

make the circular pattern of the leg of the polygon.

Once that is sorted can make solids from that leg of the triangle in any way desired

I made a multisided box this way, if stuck will try a screencast - from the file, but it was a while ago....
