How to center a body at a certain POI?

I'm super fresh to fusion and I'm heavily struggling with something simple.

How to center the "blue body" horizontally (place where its right now)  to one it snaps to?

DnlT1Gy
Align doesn't apply here.
So I made a new plane. Created 1st sketch of POI then created the second one of actual size.
Locked the 1st one and then aligned 2 center points

YuTx78Y

I was looking 1h for a solution because every time I tried to snap 2 of them to the body edge there was a margin between sketches and body ... because of lack of lock-on POI sketch.
VM6qmUR
And here it is perfectly balanced as all things should be. Extruded and mirrored.

BUT I KNOW I MADE IT THE SUPER DUMB WAY
Is anyone able to link/show/ the proper way? Someone said to use dimensions and make it right but there's no margin option.

You are using bodies, and not components for bodies

dimension the sketches, build in place,

so many ways for the same thing.

If it worked how can we help?

Sadly I don't understand what yore saying. Do I have to convert them into components? Group specific bodies or what? What does it change?

Can you File>Export your *.f3d file to your local drive and then Attach it here to a Reply?

You have a body that did not line up.  (You fixed that)

That means the body was not built in the right place, so you ask how to move it accurately.

If the body is inside its component, you join this component to another component, with Joint command.  (You did not do that)

If you do not follow Rule no 1, that’s fine,

you do not build it in the right place, that’s fine,

But if you use one of these two options, lining stuff up is easy.

You did it the hard way, and that’s fine.

So the easy way is make component, for each part in the file.

when you have 2 components, use Joint to join them in the right place.

Might help....

History is still there.  Activate top File name, and send Timeline to the end - right hand end.

Blue sketch lines should keep you awake at night.

Fix yellow icons with Undo key, when they happen.

OK i think i understand now, I deleted the body that was the geometry edge of that sketch. But what should I do now?

When it says the sketch plane is lost it's because something changed in the timeline and that reference is now broken. There are many ways this could happen so it's best to always strive for fully defined sketches and healthy habits when it comes to components/joints in your assembly strategies.

To fix the sketch plane error right-click the sketch in the browser or the timeline and "redefine sketch plane". Pick an appropriate face or origin plane to re-attach your sketch and make sure those actions didn't break anything else. When you have multiple errors to deal with move through them from left to right on the timeline because going back and fixing bad geometry can sometimes mean you need to fix future operations.

Building a house on a crumbling foundation takes many, many band-aids and expletives. Best to start on a solid foundation.

Accepted solution

Thanks. It's my second day. And I think I figured out how it works, but most of the time there's no way to easily fix it.
For example this is where my issue started, I mirrored bad placed body and worked on second one then mirrored back the correct one and deleted the orginal one.
But now:

WV7Jq9M

It want that body back. I cannot simply create a new one and move it to that place in the timeline. I would have to start all over again.

Fixed it in a way that proves I started wrong at 1st place. Because you will have to go back and fix anything anyway, relink and create missing parts.
CQQo4hZ

Everything seems to be fixed.
The only thing I dont get is the point of using components. It acts as a group of similar objects which I don't have or don't want them to interact the same way.

For anyone in future that don't understand what happened here hit me up on discord Aeit#0009 Ill try to help

You can roll back the timeline to work earlier in the design history. Use the arrows to step through one operation at a time or you can jump from one end to the other. You can also drag the marker back and forth to jump through multiple operations at once.

timeline.jpg

This way the future operations are preserved but you can go back and fix things as needed.

@ritste20  Is correct you can not walk on quicksand.

some quick tips,

For frames, the Origin should be in the middle of the mattress, so mirror planes are first.

Rule no 1, is listed near top of the forum topics. Make one of every unique part.  Duplicate and position.

Rule no 3, do not use Delete Key, you get a warning and you ignore it?  Of course not.

Hide things not needed with eyeballs.
