How do you make an structure look significantly larger in a rendering?

I'm actually modeling a space-station, of sorts; and was hoping to make it look like the scale it's supposed to be. I find myself struggling with the background on this project as well...

 

So, any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

If you want something to look big, use a low angle 3-point perspective (left below). In other words, look at it from a corner and pan so that you're looking up at it.
