How do you animate gears??

Could somebody post a video or share a link for how to animate gear mechanisms. I've got all my parts built but I'm really struggling trying to figure out how to animate them together.

Use a motion relationship between the revolut joints you position the gears with.

The motion relationship will let you create relationship ratio if your gears are not 1:1.

In this situation I have a gear revoloving with a cylinder that has a key and key slot, with a washer behind it all. I would like them all to rotate. Should a make a rigid group with the key, cylinder, and washer, and then revolove them with the gear? I'm new to Animation so I may be completely off, but any advice or solutions would really help
