How do you add tolerances for screw threads?

I have a model that uses M4 0.7 screws, however, I can't get them to properly fit and work after printing. I am using PLA for printing with a FlashForge Creater pro. I tried adding the treads later with a tap but the screws just snapped even with 100% infill. I tried to offset face of the threads but Fusion 360 freezes completely, make because of the complexity of calculating the spiral offset. What is the easiest way to get it working?

I think Offset Faces is the way people usually do this.  I was able pretty quickly offset a couple of the faces:

are you doing something different than that?

can you share a model where this occurs?  Most likely, Fusion is not "frozen" it is merely working hard on the offset, and if wait, it will complete.
