How do I voronoi a curved surface

Hello,

how would you suggest to create a voronoi pattern along a curved surface like this one?  

I'm struggling with the tools I know. I kinda wish I could flat that surface, Apply the voronoi, extrude it and curve it back (loft? sweep?).

You can!

Create a sheet metal part bent as in your screenshot.

Unfold it.

Apply the Voronoi pattern.

Refold.

Done!

It doesn’t let me create a sheet metal body out of that surface though. It says the surface need to be flat. 😕

Sure. 
In the project there are the surface body, and a solid thickened from the surface. I tried with both.

Your design is already pretty broken, but I'm showing you the fix anyway.

That's amazing. 
I never would've guessed.
I was trying to achieve the same result starting from a straight sheet of metal and then bending, but the measures were way off.
