How do I view version descriptions within Fusion 360?

Here's an example of what I can see in the Fusion 360 Data Panel:

and here's an example of what I can see on the web:

I can't find a way to view in Fusion 360 the description information that I input when saving. How do I see it without having to leave Fusion? This seems very basic, but I just can't seem to find it.

Hi @jsejcksn,

Thanks for posting!

Unfortunately, I was also unable to find a way to view the version descriptions within Fusion.  This would be a great thing to add to the Fusion 360 IdeaStation! The IdeaStation is great because it allows our users to directly influence the features and functionality of Fusion by allowing the entire community to vote on the idea! Also, the Product Management team goes through the posts with the most votes on a regular basis to see what they should have the developers work on next.

I believe that this is something that many users would like to have, so would you mind creating a post there? Should you decide to do so, would you also mind circling back here and linking the IdeaStation post? I would like to add my vote to it 🙂

I hope this helps!

Cheers,

hi jsejcksn,

@mike.tessier  is correct you can only view version notes in the browser view of your data.  We are currently working on fixing this experience so that your data access across Fusion is the same and this is one key component to that experience.  This is in our experience design roadmap however I don't have any specific timeframe when you'll see these experiences start to merge.

hope this helps.

Hi @JamieGilchrist. Can you share a public link to that roadmap? Thanks.

hey jsejcksn,

happy new year to you.  our UX roadmap is not an external facing one.  you can view the product roadmap here and I expect there will be an update for the coming year shortly.  I'll post (shortly) a sneak peak of where some of our thinking is around how to handle the versions experience within Fusions modeling environment compared to the web experience.

hope this helps,

Hi @JamieGilchrist. I hope this past week has been a great one for you. When do you plan to post the "sneak peak"? Cheers.

Apologies for the late response.

Here is a quick mock up on the version experience merging between the web experience and in the Fusion modeling window.

web experience:

one possible solution in the modeling window:

The concept here is that the data you are looking at is the same and should be presented in the same way regardless of the platform (i.e. web browser, desktop or mobile device)

hope this helps.

@JamieGilchrist:

When can we hope to see this implemented in Fusion? I don't really use the web much, so not being able to see this from within Fusion is a bit annoying. Sounds like a reasonably simple thing to add to the data panel?

This was actually implemented in the latest update, but it wasn't mentioned in the update description post (that I noticed). Anyway, good to see it appear!
