How Do I Project A Curved Surface

I'm trying to split a part in half such that there are no overhangs on either side. I've almost got it but there's a small overhang left that I could easily get rid of if I could just grab the line that is the outermost part of this curve from a top down perspective. Projecting only projects edges though, so how can I project the outermost part of this curved surface? I've attached a photo of the part in question as well as the f3d of the model.

I am sorry that it is unclear to me where exactly on the model you would like to make the change. Could you paint the face in a different color on the model?

I painted the surface red. It's body14 .If you're looking at the model on the bottom view and select that surface then you can see where it overhangs like in my picture.
